In addition, George Hartwick has made Dauphin County government work smarter and leaner. Under George's leadership Dauphin County has successfully implemented cost reduction measures, hiring freezes, and successfully secured alternate revenue sources.
Criminal Justice System
George Hartwick has led the way in implementing cutting-edge drug and mental health courts for offenders in need, and emphasized drug treatment over costly agency advertising.
George spearheaded the creation of Neighborhood Reporting Centers to rehabilitate troubled teens within the community as an alternative to institutionalization.
Quality of Life
Thanks to George Hartwick's efforts, Dauphin County's recycling program has increased dramatically, and Dauphin County has established the first permanent e-cycling facility in Pennsylvania.
George Hartwick understands that open space preservation will be our legacy for our children and grandchildren. That's why George has fought to expand Dauphin County's parks and recreational offerings, and why he’s also increased Dauphin County’s open space program more than any current Board of Commissioners.
